This is the beginning of my deep-dive into SvelteKit's data loading capabilities. Here I explore LayoutServerLoad and PageServerLoad differences and how I might use them to interact with my Solana program.
INTRODUCTION
This is my first attempt at recording and sharing my work, and it's certainly not pretty! There's a saying in Chinese, 摸着石头过河, which literally means feeling the stones to cross the river. I'm definitely feeling my way through this complex environment, so apologies in advance for not showcasing best practices and struggling with the concepts. I’m completely self-taught and don't get paid to program, but I'm genuinely enthusiastic about learning web development and blockchain technology, so hopefully you learn a few things throughout my struggles.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
In this series, I’ll be building a Solana ledger program utilizing Anchor, SvelteKit 1+, Tailwind, and Skeleton UI. The project is evolving (figuratively building the plane while its already taken off!), but involves Solana Program Derived Addresses (PDAs), custom SPL tokens, SPL token transfers, and certainly much much more!
As a father, I try to teach my boys a little about how money works by giving them an allowance and letting them practice making financial decisions. I created a web2 app tracking their balances and transactions, but thought it would be a fun experiment building this on Solana with a custom SPL token (it’s all funny money anyway, right?) and using SvelteKit for the frontend. It could be really neat (and challenging!) to introduce incentives to save, perhaps with a combination of SPL token staking and possible NFT rewards for hitting certain milestones. Who knows how this will evolve and I’m always open to ideas!
