How to setup a ducker on an A&H QU-16 and a Presonus 32-SC
This video covers configuring a ducker on an A&H QU-16 and Presonus 32SC consoles.
Duckers are most commonly used when there is background music and an announcement needs to be made. The ducker lowers the music to allow the vocal announcement to come through. Ducking is also commonly used between a kick-drum and bass guitar.
The process of "ducking" is sometimes referred to as "side-chaining". On some analog compressors and/or gates, the words "side-chain" are printed on the back of the gear to show which connection to use when using that gear as a "ducker".
