Emotions play a part in the ability to learn, and Conscious Discipline provides the information adults need to understand our own emotions first so we can self-regulate and then help those around us regulate their emotions (known as co-regulation).

The first step is to acknowledge that emotions happen. You don’t need to have all the answers; just be willing to be unafraid of emotions and give them air rather than sweep them under the rug.

One way we support children with their emotions in Conscious Discipline is with the Safe Place; a self-regulation center where children can learn to work through big feelings.
