The hierarchy of a Spark project is a bit confusing at first. We have the device, then a camera inside that, then the focal distance inside that.
Device
Think of this as literally your phone. It contains information about the screen size, scale, and allows the use of instructions and render passes.
Camera
The camera is inside of your phone, no? So that part makes sense. With the camera, you can extract what the camera sees and also use segmentation, which is like silhouetting or green screening someone.
Focal Distance
This is out in space where the camera is pointing. In photography terms, the focal distance or focal plane is where the lens is focused. It often makes sense to put a lot of your objects here so they're out in front of the camera and not right on top of the camera.
Coordinates
Placing an object as a child of the camera automatically places it right on the camera. If you move that object into the focal distance, it will move over to the floating video preview. In both cases, the position value of that object is the same. It will be 0, 0, 0 at both, even after you switch parents.
