In the very middle of the biggest city in the world, Tokyo, there is a camera museum every camera geek should visit - but almost no one has heard of.
JCII - the Japan Camera Industry Institure - is best known by film photographers by the golden "Passed" stickers on cameras from the 1960s to the 1980s. That sticker ment that they had passed quality control and were accredited to be within set tolerances. It is very much the same work our technicians at Kamerastore do every day, but at a way way way bigger scale.
JCII owns a big 8 floor building with views to the Imperial Palace of Tokyo and its grounds. In the basement you can find the most meticulously chronologically curated camera museum we have ever seen.
In this little tour video of the permanent exhibition Juho - Founder of Kamerastore and the Camera Rescue Project - and Takeo TKO Suzuki, designer of the Pentax 17 walk through and have a chat about things they see.
Hope you Enjoy and get a chance to visit one day!
