In the autumn of 1993, on the way home from a bus holiday in Poland - a fantastic trip with the family - the love for the superstars of the time - Roxette 🎶🎹 started
Poland at the time was badly affected by the aftermath of the Cold War and what I especially remember was their 100,000 (kr) notes (Zloty) and how little they were worth. I remember a Sodavand and a Yankee bar costing around 5,000 but that's not where the magic started and also not what my point is in today's song 🙏
Besides, 100,000 was nothing in Danish money, so we were rich when we arrived.💷😅
It all started at a Polish market where I spotted a Sony Walkman and Roxette's album - Joyride!🎸🎵
Wow!!! all the way home from Poland to Rostock and across the water to Gedser it was on Fading Like A Flower, Spending My Time and all the other classics!🎧
This iconic album featured smash hits and some were used in the cult teen series Beverly Hills 90210! I was a FAN!!💪🎉
The success Roxette had in the 1990s started for me with one of their absolute biggest hits ever!
The song means a lot to me, my childhood/youth, the formation of who I am - and yes, unimaginable what music does to you ☺️🎸 The song was also made as a "careful" Christmas hit and was released on 2 December 1987.
In 1990 it was stripped of Christmas bells and became the soundtrack to the blockbuster movie Pretty Woman!
For many reasons, but mostly because of the song's importance to me, I wanted to work with the song. Tried to make it "my" way, but with great respect for Roxette's version "just a little different" 🙏🎶
