Many angry MM2H passholders have started looking into different alternatives to stay in Malaysia or leave the country for good.
It doesn't matter if Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Ipoh or Johor Bahru is your existing home, you probably need a new visa to remain in the country (unless the government reconsiders its decision).
The Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home Program (S-MM2H) appears to be the most realistic alternative for all existing passholders who can't meet the new requirements.
The most attractive aspect of the Sarawak program is that it gives you a social visit pass that allows you to live in any Malaysian state - something that is not possible with the peninsula MM2H visa.
A single applicant is only required to prove an offshore income or pension of RM7,000 per month.
A single applicant is required to deposit only RM150,000 into a Sarawak bank account and is allowed to withdraw RM60,000 for expensed related to property, car, healthcare or children education later on.
The S-MM2H program doesn't appear to have a minimum net worth requirement - another plus.
Sarawak's immigration policy is independent from the peninsula and it is likely that the requirements won't change for existing Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home passholders.
