Metal Slug 4 is probably the black sheep of the series, but it's a good game. Coming after SNK's bankruptcy, new developers had to take over the reins. The problem is that they had to follow Metal Slug X, which is probably the best game in the genre, and Metal Slug 3, a monumental work. And they didn't do themselves any favors by reusing so many assets, making this game almost feel like an official romhack. But the level design is solid and it has the same timeless Metal Slug action, so it's still fun and worth playing for fans of the genre. Just don't expect a masterpiece and you can have a good time.
