This project is a good example of how to use Adobe Illustrator to create a mockup file that will maximize your use of material and space. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Separate your art into layers, select similar elements and move to isolate
2. Adjust Artboard to a standard paper size (shift + O on Mac)
3. Make your die outlines a non-contrasting color, and remove interior dielines
4. Reduce unnecessary background
5. Rotate and nest art (if possible) to fit within a compact space
6. Dieline should be topmost layer or element
7. Set your Artboard to allow for a 1/8 to 1/4 margin around trim art
8. Keep a native Adobe Illustrator version of the file and save a hi-res PDF for your printer
Best practice tip: You can pull a hi-res PDF directly into Adobe Illustrator!
