⚙️ Why are lug nuts only used once in racing?
In NASCAR racing, every second counts. During pit stops, lug nuts fly off into the air, and this isn't an accident, but a well-designed process. Old lug nuts can have damaged threads and cause the wheel to come loose, so they're only used once. To ensure the fastest possible replacement, fresh lug nuts are pre-glued to the wheel. When the wheel is installed, the studs push them out, and mechanics instantly tighten them. This is why NASCAR wheel changes are a real spectacle.
