What is life from the perspective of the Universe, Matter, Time, and Energy?
Fundamental things that weren't explained to me in school. If I had known this from the start, physics and chemistry would have made sense in my worldview.
The key concept is EMERGENCE, the emergence of new compounds at more complex levels of matter organization.
Atoms are simple matter.
Molecules are complex matter (consisting of several atoms).
Molecules have PROPERTIES (emergence) that simple matter does not have.
LIFE is one of these PROPERTIES.
00:00 The universe is made of energy, and everything in our reality is the flow of this energy from one form to another.
01:20 Matter is energy stored in atoms and molecules, acquiring new properties in complex forms.
02:34 Matter has different properties depending on its structure.
03:40 Complex organic molecules led to the emergence of life.
04:58 Natural selection led to the evolution of replicators.
06:06 Our body is not a replicator, but a habitat modeled according to its wishes.
07:22 For a replicator to survive, the transmission of information about its environment is necessary.
08:33 Life is complex, organized matter that accumulates knowledge to manipulate the energy of this reality.
