Update on last week’s proposed laws
Mississipi and then Utah lawmakers proposed restrictive new UAS laws last week.
The two Mississippi laws we mentioned in last week’s episode did not make it and the Utah one was never presented.
While it’s good news, we need to continue to keep our eyes open.
Flying during the Super Bowl TFR
An Florida Man was charged with violating national defense airspace with his drone after he flew during the Super Bowl events in downtown Tampa.
If convicted, the 33-year old from Orlando could face up to a year in prison.
He was also found to fly beyond visual line of sight and over people and moving vehicles.
He told the agents that he knew about the TFR but said he has a license to operate.
According to the FAA database, he has been a UAS pilot since January 2020.

B4UFly gets desktop version
Kittyhawk and the FAA released a desktop version of its popular app B4UFLY.
The app was redesigned last year by Kittyhawk and can now be used on desktop devices.
It makes planning easier and is less intimidating than the FAA ArcGIS website which can take a while to load.

National Park Ruling
A federal judge has struck down that the National Park Service cannot charge commercial filmmakers who want to shoot in National Parks.
While this is a victory for many who had a difficult time getting approval, this does not strike down the limitations to fly UAS in National Parks.
