The Dolomites are a mountain chain located in northern Italy, in the provinces of Belluno, Südtirol and Trentino. While in winter they have great options for skiing, in spring/summer they are the perfect place for hiking.

Alta Via 2 starts in Brixen/Bressanone and ends in Croce d'Aune, near Feltre. This usually are done in 12-13 days and even in the summer you can found some snow in the trail. Despite being located in Italy, it is funny to realize that the language spoken in the large part of the trekking is German/Austrian, as well as the culture and food offered. In fact, the Südtirol only became part of Italy after the World War I.
The Dolomites offer a large number of trails, called Alta Via, which are usually done between June and September due to the climatic conditions. The main routes are the Alta Via 1, the most famous, that have 90 miles and passes through some battlefield from the Great War, the Alta Via 2, which 100 miles and Alta Via 4, near Tre Cime di Lavaredo, with 55 miles.

We did half of the Alta Via 2, from Brixen to San Pellegrino. It took approximately 55 miles in 5 days passing through Forcella di Sielles, Passo Fedaia, Puez Plateau, Passo Crespeina, Passo Gardena, Passo Pordoi, Lago di Fedaia, Marmolada, Malga Ciapela, Forca Rossa and other exuberant spots.
