Nazca Lines Documentary, Where are the thousands of years of mysterious Nazca Lines?, What are the Nazca Lines? What is the secret of the Nazca Lines? Who made the Nazca Lines? Is it visible on google earth? How to go? Did aliens do it? These were the questions everyone asked me curiously before I went to Peru's Nazca Desert.
What am I shooting for you to shoot a Peru travel vlog, a travel documentary? This time I am traveling to the Nazca Desert, which is in the north of the Atacama Desert. One of the driest places in the world.

After traveling in a difficult area, the Lineas de Nazca, or Nazca Lines sign, appears. First, we climb a tower on the road, from here some giant Nazca figures such as birds and ducks can be seen. The reason why these figures, which were made on the ground thousands of years ago, are not lost is because it has never rained in this region. It is called the driest region in the world.
The bus ride takes us to a small airport in Nazca. There are small Cessna type planes here. Along with the flight certificate, they give us a paper showing the Nazca Shapes that we will see. There are monkeys, dogs, whales and the world's largest bird, the Condor bird. This bird lives only around the Andes.
The Cessna Type aircraft is so small that they put the fattest one (meaning me) in the front for safety. We start the flight over the Peruvian Desert.
The Nazca Lines, for some, are the tracks left by spaceships when they land, the signs that show the way to the aliens, or the way the Nazca Indians communicate with the aliens. Actually, my interest in Nazca Lines started when I was a kid with Erich Von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods. Daniken claimed that the Nazca Lines could only be seen from a high vantage point and could not have been drawn by an earthly creature. Of course, we are not in the 90s anymore, and branches of science such as archeology and anthropology can give clearer answers to our questions.
So why were the Nazca Lines really made?
Why did the Nazca People make these giant shapes in the middle of the desert?
Let's first look at how and when they were made. It is made in the 1000-year period between 500 BC and 500 AD. So the oldest lines are 2500 years old and the newest is 1500 years old. How is it that these lines, which were created by making cuts and pits in the desert, were not filled with the effect of rain, wind and mud and remained the same until today. The reason is that this region is the driest place in the world and it hardly rains. The very occasional rain is just an ineffective drizzle. I can say that I haven't seen any rain for 3 months. Although the fact that it can only be seen from the air has highlighted the aliens for years, archaeologists think differently. They speculate that it could be the Nazca's efforts to communicate with the gods they believed were in the sky, or an astronomical calendar. It is estimated that the seashells found in the lines were brought from the ocean hundreds of kilometers away to be used for rituals. By the way, don't worry about what I call a line, the longest one is 370 meters. Did aliens make it, or was it an astronomical calendar or a ritual site? Unfortunately, it is not fully known. I'm taking you around, you decide.
