Considered by some to be the greatest philosopher of the 20th century, Ludwig Wittgenstein played a central, albeit controversial, role in mid-20th-century analytic philosophy. Even today, he continues to influence and generate debate in contemporary philosophical thought on topics as diverse as logic and language, perception and intention, ethics and religion, aesthetics and culture, and even political thought.
In this video, we review the key moments of the Tractatus to arrive at an understanding, at least in part, of the meaning of its enigmatic and controversial phrase: "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent."
