Raspberry Pi : Unable to mount fs on unknown - block(179,2) try Linux fsck command
My Raspberry Pi failed to boot due to the block(179,2) error, and I have some data I would like to recover. My first attempt is to use the Linux command line fsck command in an attempt to repair the inodes on the disc in an attempt to get the disc bootable again. In this video I shoe the steps that I took to try to save my pi disc. The fsck commands were successful at modifying the disc but the disc was still not bootable after these initial attempts. Other on the internet claim that they were successful using this method, and I did make an image backup of the disc before I started to so I can continue to use variations of this method in a second or third attempt if necessary. It is never fun to loose data in a disc crash. Hopefully this information will be helpful to you..
