THE HANDMAID’S TALE Season 6 - FINAL; Spin-off Revealed; Elisabeth Moss Reacts to Alexis Bledel Exit
Hey, guys! Just as Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale premiered on Hulu on September 14, we have a bunch of news for you! Most importantly, Season 6 of The Handmaid’s Tale is already officially confirmed! A 10-episode Season 6 is expected to premiere in the second half of 2023. The renewal announcement comes with a bitter pill: Season 6 will also be the FINAL season for the dystopian drama series. The Handmaid’s Tale, starring brilliant Elisabeth Moss, had a great run, praised and adored by critics and viewers alike. In just 4 seasons, it’s banked 84 (!) award wins, including 15 Primetime Emmys and 267 (!) nominations! In case you are bummed by the cancelation news, here is something to get excited about. The Handmaid’s Tale is based on the same-name novel by Margaret Atwood. Well, Bruce Miller, the show’s creator, is already working on the sequel series: it will be based on Atwood’s 2019 novel The Testaments and will be set in the Gilead universe, but years after the original show. As you probably already know, Alexis Bledel isn’t returning as Emily in Season 5: she announced her departure from the show back in May. In an interview with ET Online, Elisabeth Moss, who’s known Alexis back from their Mad Men days, said that “Emily’s return to the Gilead makes total sense, as she’s always been the one that makes moves.” Anyway, share with us in the comments what you think of Bledel’s departure.
