Two Ships: The Bismarck-class battleships were a pair of battleships built for the German Navy during World War II. The two ships were the Bismarck and the Tirpitz.

Heavy Armor: Both ships were heavily armored, with armor plating that was up to 12 inches (305 mm) thick in some places.

Armament: The Bismarck-class battleships were armed with eight 15-inch guns in four turrets. They also had a secondary battery of twelve 5.9-inch guns and sixteen 4.1-inch guns.

Limited Combat: The Bismarck-class battleships did not see a lot of action during the war. The Bismarck famously sank the HMS Hood, a British battlecruiser, before being heavily damaged and forced to scuttle itself. The Tirpitz was damaged by a British midget submarine and later sunk by British bombers.

Short Lifespan: The Bismarck-class battleships had a relatively short lifespan. The Bismarck was in service for only eight months before it was sunk, and the Tirpitz was in service for just over two years.
