Think of Stephen King. He lived in a trailer with his wife, also a writer, working several jobs, and receiving rejection after rejection from publishers. They were so poor that they had to give up their phone and borrow their wedding dress from friends. Before King's first story, "The Glass Floor," sold for $35, he received 60 rejections. Even his bestseller, "Carrie," wasn't an immediate hit, initially selling only 13,000 copies. Now, King is one of the most successful and highly paid writers in the world. Over the course of his career, his works have been published and sold, totaling approximately 300 million copies.
And his example shows that it's worthwhile to move forward with serious endeavors, without the option to give up. I'll talk about the principle of "No retreat, no surrender" and how to move forward when all seems lost.
