Prof Staurt McGill is answering the following questions in the interview held on 9 August 2020:

1. What is the most common cause of back pain? Would you agree it is due to the damage within the spinal disc and collagen delamination?

2. Patients with a long standing back pain - do they still have a good chance of recovery?

3. Do you always find a cause of back pain? I know you disagree with the concept of non-specificity in relation to the back pain.

4. What can you do to prevent back pain, a number of my patients have physically demanding work and non-compliance may be an issue.

5. What is your opinion of poor psychological state affecting chances of recovery? Can depression, stress and low mood make pain worse?

6. Central sensitization and upregulation of the nervous system - do you agree with this concept? And how important it is in therapy?

7. Hands on approach - what is your opinion? Can it complement what you do with patients as part of rehab?

8. Do you agree that there is too much emphasis on MRIs and radiological finding, especially among patients?

9. Your patient assessments take between 2-3 hrs. What happens during the assessment?

1o. Those therapists interested in your method - what book/training material would you recommend to start off with? can they train with you? How can they get more info?
