Car photography is extremely fun. In this video I give you my 3 steps to taking killer pictures.

1-Location
This is my favorite one because we use cars to go places, and the most interesting moments are those when we travel to an awesome location and our car looks amazing there. Try to go to remote areas that other people don't see often. This will make your picture unique and your car will thank you for the time on the road. :)
2- Lens Selection
I love to shoot cars with a wide angle lens so I can capture the scale of the location and also make the car look impressive. I get up close and personal to make those shots that make the car stand out.
My other strategy is to go far away and use a telephoto lens like the Canon 70-200mm. This will get you some interesting shots that will stand out.
3- Lighting
This is the one that will make or break the photo. Make sure you wait for golden hour during sunset to take your shots. This time will render the most beautiful images since the light will be defused and very soft.
BONUS:
When I edit my pictures I keep it very simple. I lower the highlights to bring back the clouds, then lift the shadows a bit to see the details on the car and sometimes I play with the tones to bing contrasting hues to the shadows and highlights.

If you have a car you’re proud of, eventually you’re going to want to take some memorable—and sharable—photos of the wonderful machine. You can, of course, take it to a cool spot, snap some images with your smartphone, and be done. But if you put just a bit more thought and effort into it, you can create images that you’ll be as proud of as you are of the car itself.
The 14 examples below—learned over my years of automotive photography—illustrate some key considerations and strategies for shooting cars. The overarching take-home, however, is essentially the same as it would be in other forms of photography: Think about what you’re doing. Don’t just take a snapshot in front of a cool building or a mountain; instead, pay attention to composition, lighting conditions, background, angles, camera settings, and so forth. You don’t have to know everything about photography, but just taking your time and thinking out even a couple of the many aspects that go into a good photo can make a world of difference.
