Deeper Learning Episodes in the Form of iBooks
The incorporation of interactive digital media offers a great opportunity for the contemporary EFL classroom. Together with our students, we were able to build a library of selected iBooks that set an outstanding example for how deeper learning and electronic devices, like iPads, bring language learning to the next level.
In this video, we will take a closer look at the iBook "Hawaii: Beyond Flowers, Ukuleles, and Surfing" to illustrate how an interactive schoolbook works and what it can look like.
The concept of this iBook is based on a pedagogic approach called "Pluriliteracies Teaching for Deeper Learning", which promotes deeper learning and the development of transferable 21st century knowledge and skills such as critical and creative thinking, effective communication, collaboration and responsibility.
