Train Crash VFX - Breakdown (After Effects, 3dsmax)
Back in 2015 I made some Visual Effects for a Greek TV Show called 'Asfairoi' (Άσφαιροι), a buddy cop comedy. It only ran for one season, but it was fun while it lasted
Here I created the VFX for the main plot string, our protagonists manage to get their police car stuck on the train tracks and it gets crushed by a train
The train doesn't exist, the train tracks are not in use anymore, I cloth simulated the car deforming when hit by the train for a frames and then re-ran the simulation with the deformed car. Added particles for the shattering windows and hand animated the police light coming off. It was big hit with the crew
