NCSAM 2019: Improving Your Clery Act Reporting Procedures
The Clery Act requires institutions to maintain statistics on Clery Act crimes that occurred within Clery Act geographic locations that were reported to campus security authorities (CSAs). As these statistics are derived from the reports of CSAs it is imperative to create a sound structure for reporting this information accurately and succinctly to alleviate making the reporting process ineffective or burdensome. Standardizing the way CSAs report and the information they should provide can assist with streamlining classification of Clery crimes on the front-end making for easier record reconciliation down the road.
