Victor Frankenstein's experiment    • Скульптура монстра Франкенштейна   obsessed with creating a living being from inanimate matter, after countless failed attempts, was finally crowned with success. The yellow skin stretched too tightly over his muscles and veins; his hair was black, shiny and long, and his teeth were white as pearls; but their contrast with the watery eyes, almost indistinguishable in color from the sockets, with the dry skin and the narrow slit of a black mouth was all the more terrible. It was impossible to look at him without shuddering. No mummy, brought back to life, could be more terrible than this monster. I saw my creation unfinished; it was ugly even then; but when its joints and muscles began to move, something more terrible than all the fictions of Dante appeared. Frankenstein's Monster first appeared in 1818 in Mary Sherri's novel Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus. The plot begins with the English explorer Walton setting off for the North Pole to explore new landmasses and map them. Among the ice, his ship picks up an emaciated man named Victor Frankenstein, who tells Walton his terrible story. He tells how he spent 2 years researching and found a way to create living matter from nonliving matter. How, with the help of this discovery, he created and revived a giant. Later, the monster learned to speak and began to demand that Victor create him a bride. He agrees, but then destroys the woman's body. The monster falls into a rage and promises to take revenge on the young scientist. The novel ends with Walton, impressed by the story, deciding to turn the ship around and go back. On the way, Frankenstein dies, and in the cabin with the scientist's body, Walton discovers the monster itself, which was on the ship all this time. In 1910, Frankenstein's Monster first appeared on screen in a short silent film. For many years, this film was considered lost and only in 1970, completely by chance, it was found in a collection of films belonging to one collector. Well, the image of the monster that is already familiar to us and has become a classic of horror was created in 1931 and it is this image that I took as the basis for my bust, which I am trying to depict. However, I rather have a stern uncle than Frankenstein's monster. The actor who played the monster is called Boris Karloff, during his entire acting career, which lasted no less than 50 years, he played mainly in horror films for which critics gave him the nickname Karloff the Terrible. By the way, the creator of the monster's makeup and image, Jack Pierce, studied ancient burial techniques and anatomy for his work, and the cut off top of the head appeared because Pierce believed that it would be easier for Frankenstein to directly transplant the brain to his monster. The makeup and image of the monster he created are protected by a special patent and will be in the exclusive possession of Universal Pictures until 2026. This film became one of the most successful of the so-called Universal Monsters series and laid the foundation for multiple sequels of both horror films, comedies, TV series and cartoons. By the way, now Universal has decided to restart its monster series, if I'm not mistaken, the 2017 Mummy was the first film in this universe. So we should soon see a new Frankenstein monster, and this universe also includes Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Invisible Man. Well, in the meantime, I have already created my Frankenstein monster, it turned out not very similar, but still some common features are caught. I hope that it was at least a little interesting, but here I will probably finish, and at the end there is a small spoiler of the new video.
