The story centers on three young men who find themselves in the armed forces under very different circumstances. One joined straight from the factory, another from college, and the third fleeing persecution by the Aliyev brothers, to whom he had lost their money in a casino. The army's daily life is characterized by drunkenness, pot smoking, and rampant theft of anything lying around, exacerbated by harsh hazing. The heroes still have a long way to go before they are discharged...
