How We Help Jess Explore an Antique Mall - Cortical Visual Impairment
Jess, Hannah, Val, and Nonnie explored an Antique Mall! Jess is blind due to a cortical visual impairment, so she has never really enjoyed things like “window shopping” or strolling through a store like this to see what they have. We were so excited that she agreed to come with us and that she ended up really enjoying it! Since she’s blind, we describe things that we see to her, and occasionally guide her to check things out with her sense of touch. We were thankful she found a couple things she wanted, and we even secretly found a couple things for her upcoming birthday!
Welcome to our page! We are an atypical family dedicated to sharing a joyful life alongside things like autism, blindness, complex medical histories, and mental health disorders. We hope to take some of the mystery out of what it is like when special needs children grow into special needs adults. This life can be good. Beyond challenges and frustrations we find even more joy, entertainment, laughs and good times.
