Park instead of ZIL - Tyufeleva Roshcha
A new park on the territory of the former Likhachev Plant (ZIL).
As we remember, the most powerful and largest enterprise, which recently celebrated its centenary, was demolished in order to build up its territory with housing and business centers, which are in dire shortage in Moscow.
What we know: In the spring of 2013, the planning project for the ZIL production zone was adopted. The territory was divided into nine parts, in which residential microdistricts, a business center, parks, a sports cluster, and automobile production will be built.
Let's start with the parks.
Specifically with Tyufeleva Roshcha. At first, it may seem that this is some kind of course project of some student architect, whose dad has good connections where it is needed, but it turned out to be more serious...
For this project, a designer and architect with a world-famous name, Jerry Van Eyck, was invited from America. I read about the works of his bureau !melk.. Knowledgeable people claim that each work of the studio in the field of architectural and landscape design and the formation of the urban environment is distinguished by an emphasized individuality and aesthetic originality. In the process of work !melk manages to achieve a complete transformation of objects.
Nevertheless, Jerry Van Eyck's projects can be found in London, New York, Singapore, Miami Beach, Las Vegas
Today's Jerry Van Eyck creates cutting-edge parks outside of time, full of innovative elements and abstract forms, based on the principles of ecology and sustainable development, with developed social infrastructure. In addition, public spaces necessarily emphasize the individuality of the place.
The individuality of this place is emphasized by pergolas (awnings). This is both a gazebo, an observation deck, and a 1.3 km long walking area. It is made of Corten steel. Having rusted, the material forever retains its terracotta color. Initially, I saw a huge earthworm in this installation, and then I read that it was an expression of the continuity of the place, symbolizing the ZIL plant conveyor...
By the way, the Ponds and the park were on the bank of the Moskva River long before the car manufacturing plant appeared here. And the Tyufeleva Grove itself was much older than Moscow.
The relict coniferous forest in the vicinity of the Simonov Monastery belonged to Moscow princes and tsars for centuries. In the 17th century, Alexei Mikhailovich, the second Russian tsar from the Romanov dynasty, hunted here. I talked about his palace in one of my videos - link in the upper right corner.
The author of the History of the Russian State, Nikolai Karamzin, loved to walk in the Tyufeleva Grove. His love for these places was reflected in his sentimental story Poor Liza. The pond, which had always been called Fox Pond, was renamed Lizin Pond.
