‪@akkogear‬ sent over some switches and the Monsgeek M1 V5. Tested four different switches - Cilantro, Bittersweet, Creamy Yellow Pro V5, and Creamy Blue Pro V5.

First up - let's talk about the board. This starts at $90 that come with Akko Mirror or Cilantro right out of the box. For the price, I don't mind this as a starter board. It features a 1.2mm flex-cut PCB and because of that, all the foams are used in this video (clack lovers, look away). In my experience, boards like this need the foam because of the PCB; I'll save you the trouble - don't remove them, it's going to sound bad. What's great is that this board has a quick release top case, perfect for those just starting out and don't have to worry about all the screws with other keyboards. Quick pop-off and pop-on when you watch to change your build. Last, the board comes stock with a PC plate and doubleshot PBT keycaps.

Now, the switches. At the end of the day, it all comes down to preference. Nothing is mechanically wrong with any of these switches, it just depends on if you want linear vs tactiles and what sound you prefer.

Overall winner - Akko Cilantro.
The switch is perfect for clacky fans and in my opinion in my switch of 2025 at the time of writing this. This also beats out Bittersweet and Akko Blues for best tactile in this video.

Bittersweet is a lot quieter and a lot less noticeable tactile bump, almost nonexistent in my opinion. It's a thocky/muted tactile. Not my preferred sound profile, but again, nothing wrong mechanically here.

Akko Creamy Yellow Pro V5 is the only linear in this sound test and probably good for a control. Inside this board they're super thocky due to all the foams present. Outside the board, they're mid-toned and not too "creamy" (I hate that word) nor thocky. Recommend testing these in a board without foam to see how you like them first.

Lastly, the Akko Creamy Blue Pro V5. Maybe it's just me but I also didn't notice much of a tactile bump here either (especially compared to cilantro). Again, same as the yellows. Really hard to hear the switch with a foamed-out board. Test them without foams and see if you prefer the yellow vs the blue. Another middle of the road type switch sound wise. It's for sure not clacky but it's not super thocky either. If I had to pick between the yellows and blues, I think yellows win (minus the difference in switch type).

TLDR; Cilantro Tactiles are miles and miles ahead of the others here.

All switches are lubed great and no modding needed in my opinion.
