LDmicro 19: Rotary Encoder Menu Navigation (Microcontroller PLC Ladder Programming with LDmicro)

The Quadrature Encoder instruction is used to program a rotary encoder. An incremental rotary encoder count along with the encoder inbuilt switch is then used to navigate the serial LCD menu for the incubator temperature regulator from Ldmicro Tutorial 11.

This is an introductory series on programming PIC or AVR microcontrollers and Arduino boards with LDmicro PLC Ladder Logic for the absolute beginners.

The Shift Register is used to buffer incoming UART data from the Ublox NEO-6M Global Positioning System Module to display UTC time and set alarm on a 7-segment display. The Coordinated Universal Time was extracted from the GPRMC NMEA sentence.
