SYLVIE KAY : Dancer, choreographer, she founded her own company in 1991 and has created about 15 choreographies (Maison de la Danse,Opéra de Lyon, Opéra comique)… Free as a tagger, this tireless and unclassifiable improviser chooses a multi disciplinary approach in a merging of expressions without style or technical barrier.
She 's working in collaboration with the composer Igor Dvorkin since 4 years and has created SILK in April 2025 which has already obtain 3 awards..
As director and dancer, she does everything from the top to the end: she writes the story, choreography, use simple frame of camera, she dances with direct live sounds of tap dance in her variations, and then she mixes tap or movment with music.
In osmosis wtih an important picture photography, she creates a special atmosphere where she wants to give her own and original vision of dance in a complete artistic way.
Résumé of the Film (8minutes23) :
Alone in a big dance studio 16 in CND Lyon, with these three large windows, she creates this strange creature SLY in an imaginary mysterious world.Both in front and behind the camera, she becomes «Woman Conductor» using all the simplest tools at her disposal. She composes this intriguing story: there windows and the frame is set, « the stage » is born. A wooden board placed on the flloor, hifi headphones, bare feet on the ground, Rhythm is here, two boots, and a camera… Silence ! Clap ! GO !
Tap dance percussion « à capella » with a hit of insolent feet, a multi level conversation springs out whispering, scatting, humming….
An androgynous funny, tender, tender, arrogant character, Both clown and master of ceremony, rock and blues warrior, funny, tender, arrogant invites you to travel with her.
Between modernity and reminiscence, she tells us a very personal story both offbeat, unusual and poetic.
IGOR DVORKIN Composer
Igor Dvorkin is an established multi-genre composer and songwriter living in London, whose music can be heard on TV shows like Law and Under: SVU, House of Anubis, Coronation Street, Neighbours, Spooks, Silent Witness, New Tricks and David Attenborough documentaries; and advertising campaigns for brands such as Volvo, Vodafone, Barclay’s and Bird’s Eye. His music has been recorded by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Session Orchestra; and commercially released on compilations alongside artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Adiemus, Elton John, Coldplay and Phillip Glass.
