The secret of growing my 6ft south American Tamarillo tree tomato in the UK
Success at last in growing my Tamarillo / Tree Tomato (Solanum Betaceum) to fruition. I over wintered two rooted Tamarillo cuttings gifted to by youtuber MoebiusUK in September 2022 in my conservatory. After taking them out into my garden in the UK at the end of April 2023 they shot up to 6ft in height and produced plenty of Tamarillo fruits. I think that instead of growing Tamarillo from seeds, it is more productive to take cuttings from the branches of fruiting Tamarillo trees, rooting them and overwintering them to use as starter plants for the next years crop. It’s the way to go.
