This 500-year-old document changed beer forever.
This week we head to Bavaria to discover the truth and origins behind the Reinheitsgebot – perhaps the most important beer-related document ever written. This ancient "purity law" prohibits German brewers from calling their drinks "beer" if it has anything but barley, hops and water in. We find an original copy, and a descendent of the people who signed it, in a castle just west of Munich.
