This video demonstrates the correct way to check your armpit for lumps or lymph nodes. Swollen lymph nodes in armpit can be caused by infection, inflammation, and cancers such as lymphoma.

To examine each armpit at a time, you can start with the left armpit and then move to the right armpit.

So raise your left arm

Put your right hand into high into the armpit, and then lower your arm, or you can just rest your arm on the opposite shoulder like this.

With your finger flat on the armpit and using a circular motion, start from the centre and firmly but gently feel your armpit, so press up towards the shoulder , continue in a circular motion going downwards towards your chest or ribcage.
When you get towards your chest you can now use your thumb to help feel any lumps between the fingers and your thumb. Now repeat the circular motion at the front and back of your armpit.

So you move to the right armpit to examine with your left hand, raise your right arm, put your left hand high into the armpit and repeat the steps.
