Five Days Workshop Cum Training Programme on Disaster Organized by Sikkim Professional University
Sikkim Professional University hosted a workshop-cum-training session on "Enhancing Human Capacity to Deal with Public Health Emergencies during Disaster Situations Like Earthquakes, Landslides, and Flash Floods in Sikkim." The dates of the event were March 18–22, 2024. The National Institute of Disaster Management, Delhi, MHA (Government of India) and Sikkim Professional University worked together for the program. The program was run under the direction of Prof. Surya Prakash, HoD, GMRD, CBRN, NIDM, Delhi. Prominent national and international authorities in the fields of environmental science, urban planning, public health, emergency response, and disaster management were asked to participate in the program. The specialists discussed topics such as basic life support (BLS), pharmacists' involvement in disaster response, preventive measures against pandemics, transfer procedures in physiotherapy, and emergency operating plans.
