Sketchbook Ideas For Spring 🌸 3 ideas to try this spring
In this video I try out 3 sketchbook ideas for spring. I'm so inspired by this time of year, that I thought I'd get my sketchbook out and try some new ideas out.
First up is limiting yourself to one paint colour and only using that to create your entire piece. I tried this idea out using Paynes grey on a portrait in my sketchbook. I loved creating this idea, as I want to improve my portraits.
Secondly, I think about using my sketchbook for ideas outside of my sketchbook, on a larger scale. I use my sketchbook, to work on composition and workout ideas. This is a great way to experiment, without using up an expensive canvas, or the most expensive paints. I'm feeling inspired this spring to create a series of botanic paintings on a larger scale, so I wanted to sketch this idea out, before painting on a large scale.
I don't think we can think about Spring without thinking about the changing landscape. So I created a watercolour meadow with daisies. I thought this would be a really chilled idea to create. I found the painting so relaxing. I used masking fluid to retain the white paper needed for the daisies, which worked really well. I finished off this idea by using colouring pencils.
