I am happy to announce that I have acquired the Feather Client. I believe Java needs a launcher that puts its players first, runs lightweight, and pushes the ecosystem forward. Feather was the foundation and now it's time to build on it.
On June 14 at 1PM EST, Feather Client is rebranding to Dawn
We are rewriting the launcher and shipping a massive ingame client update with it. All your accounts, cosmetics, instances, mods, and settings will carry over automatically.
WHAT'S DROPPING ON JUNE 14
1. New Launcher (rebuilt from scratch)
Brand new launcher built on the latest tech, MUCH more optimized and lightweight than every launcher out there. We're doing right by the PvP community
Some of the most advanced modding capabilities. Unlimited profiles per Minecraft version with each profile having its own mods, packs, shaders, resource packs, settings etc. Yes you will be able to play Cobblemon now
Improved Modrinth-powered mod browser inside the launcher & optional auto updates
Customizable Player Profiles: banners, screenshots, bios, statuses, linked socials, server stats, and cosmetics showcase. The Dawn profile is going to be THE main Minecraft player profile
Community forum & suggestions inside the launcher
DMs and Group Chats (overlay enabled over the game)
Import Friends from Xbox + upcoming Minecraft-native friend system
Linux support
Completely rewritten ads system compliant with industry standards
Bedrock support with CPS, FPS, and Keystrokes overlay. The first non-injectable Bedrock custom client
Full patch notes drop alongside the rebrand on June 14.
2. In-Game Client Improvements
MAJOR networking (latency) and rendering optimizations, lower FPS drops, less memory usage, smoother frames. We hired the BEST of the best in the Minecraft space. The PvP experience on Dawn is going to be UNMATCHED
A bunch of bug fixes
UI framework rewrite coming in July to make Dawn's ingame UI the fastest and most responsive out of ANY client
Fully fledged server discovery coming in July partnered with all major MC servers

3. MCPVP Partnership
Dawn is going to become the official launcher of MCPVP.com - the Minecraft PvP ranking system founded by Mc Tiers & PvP Tiers. This means that:
There will be an official MCPVP client built into the Dawn launcher
You will be able to queue for duels directly from the launcher without ever entering a server
You can duel against players from any server, even those not using the client, on partnered servers like Donut SMP & PvP Club
There will be custom queue music, graphics, and a matchmaking experience built for Minecraft PvP
Players on the MCPVP server will see a verified checkmark next to your name if you are using the launcher
There will be a built in anti-cheat system communicating directly with the MCPVP servers
You will be able to see MCPVP stats and tiers of every player directly in the launcher
In the future you will be able to see upcoming tier tests, tier defenses, and challenges to spectate, and you will also be able to schedule a tier test from inside the launcher
MCPVP has been working closely with us to add client side enhancements to your PvP experience, including lowering your latency to any server by over 25ms for the smoothest Minecraft PvP experience ever
Tournaments will require launcher use so we can verify the legitimacy of tournament winners.
On that note, Dawn is also going to sponsor $100,000 in MCPVP tournament prizes over the coming months.
MCPVP is the next big thing in Minecraft’s competitive scene. We are proud to be part of it and push the PvP community forward. This is going to be crazy.
4. Why Rebrand?
Feather earned its name as the best modern PvP client and we're proud of that. But we want to expand. Be something bigger.
My vision for Dawn is simple: the most widely used launcher in Minecraft, second only to the vanilla launcher itself. Be the most lightweight, the most optimized, the most advanced launcher the game has ever seen. One launcher for PvPers, modders, casuals, content creators, server players and owners. Everyone.
Dawn will stay the #1 PvP client. We are going to implement PvP improvements that will change the game. But we're also building everything around it so this client works for every kind of player.
InPvP will invest millions over the next 12 months into this venture. I am all in.
By the end of this summer, every large Minecraft server, competitive player, and content creator will be partnered with and using Dawn.
