When you type TPM into a search engine, there about 84,900,000 results! In this world of information overload, it's really difficult to understand what it really means. Industry Forum has launched a series of videos to help you really get to the bones of a subject!

This week, we take a closer look at TPM, who it is for and what are the benefits.

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) aims to enable you to optimise production assets to deliver zero breakdowns, zero defects and zero accidents. TPM was developed by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance beginning in 1971 and has been continually refined since. Although originally developed in the automotive industry, TPM has spread to encompass a wide variety of industries in both the engineering and process sectors and the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measure has become the de facto standard for equipment performance. TPM has found particularly strong application in the process sector where equipment reliability and capability is so important.

Interested in TPM at your facility? Why not take our TPM Self Assessment and benchmark your skills! You'll receive a personalised report, which will help you identify priorities for improvement on your TPM journey. The self-assessment is suitable for anyone working in production or maintenance.
