Phil prepares for his workshop session at Rhinegold's Music Education Expo at Olympia, London using 21 devices all connected to a Laptop running Ableton Live 9.6 This will be an interactive session where the delegates will be able to join in the jam using a backing track from Bruno Mars' "Count On Me".
"Assistive Music Technology Specialist Phil Heeley presents a hands-on session using a variety of music tech gear (including The Beamz, Tenori-On, Orbit, Ableton Live and Garageband) to demonstrate a lesson where 'access for all' can be a reality. Delegates will discover and explore creative ways to enable meaningful musical opportunities for all students, no matter what their ability or disability.
It can be very difficult for music teachers to know where to start when it comes to effectively using music tech in the classroom. This session will guide you through this powerful tool: you'll explore a well-known piece of music, choosing music apps, hardware and software and matching elements to individuals' needs and interests; and create and use appropriate graphic-based scores on the iPad; before the session culminates in a mass performance.
