Google Photos’ Locked Folder is now rolling out to more Android phones
Hide your sensitive photos & videos
You can save sensitive photos and videos to a folder protected by your device screen lock in the Google Photos app. Items in Locked Folder won’t appear in the Photos grid, memories, search or albums and won’t be available to other apps on your device that have access to your photos and videos.

Many photo management apps on Android devices have an option to lock certain photos behind a PIN or fingerprint, but Google has been slow to implement such a feature in its own products. Google Photos finally added a Locked Folder feature earlier this year, but it was initially exclusive to Pixel phones, and now it’s rolling out more widely.
Photos and videos moved to the Locked Folder can only be accessed with a fingerprint (or your device’s PIN), and they are not accessible to other apps on your phone. Most importantly, they are not backed up to the cloud — if you lose your phone, or forget to back up the Locked Folder before a wipe, you lose access to those photos and/or videos.
Locked Folder rolled out to Pixel phones in June of this year, and the Google Camera was also updated to save photos and videos in the Locked Folder by pressing the folder button. It’s not clear if other device manufacturers will add similar integration with Locked Folder in Google Photos (or if Google will even allow that to happen).
👉Why Google photos locked folder is not working in my android.
Here are two reasons:
1- if you are using old version of Google photos app just go to play store & update it to latest version.
2- As in my case it is only working in my Realme 2 pro mobile so may be Google is not yet released it for all public (except pixel phone users) so just wait it may be enabled by google server side.
Set up Locked Folder
Important: The first time you try to move photos and videos to Locked Folder, you'll be prompted to set it up.
1. Open the Google Photos app Photos.
2. Go to Library and then Utilities and then Locked Folder .
3. Tap Set up Locked Folder.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to unlock your device. If your folder is empty, you’ll find "Nothing here yet."
If you don’t have a screen lock set up for your device, you’ll need to set one up to use Locked Folder.
