What are data centers Clark County weighs new regulations
As demand for data centers continues to grow across the country, Clark County commissioners are preparing to discuss whether Southern Nevada should adopt new standards for future developments before more projects are proposed.
The discussion comes as communities nationwide grapple with how to balance the growing need for data centers — which power everything from social media and email to cloud computing and online businesses — with concerns over water use, electricity demand and other local impacts.
District E Commissioner Tick Segerblom placed the item on next week's Clark County Commission agenda, saying the goal is to begin evaluating data centers more comprehensively instead of reviewing each proposal individually.
