This is a jam excerpt from the longer and more comprehensive video at • Deep Trip: HELLBENDER Fuzz/OD/Distortion .
Tone Benders are almost mythical when spoken of in reverent tones throughout the guitar fraternity. Most of the 60's and 70's legends used one at one point or another and many of the current cognoscenti still do. No wonder. They rock!
Du and the guys at Deep Trip realise this. They also realise that each and every specimen from the days of origin could be different - some better than others - due to the nature of the components used. Germanium can be a fickle thing. Especially when the weather heats up. So they've sorted and stabilised all of that, and added some welcome features like duo-tone filtering (highs and lows) an outer bias control (Want gate? Dial it in!), and onboard impedance matching so you don't get grief from buffered pedals or guitars as you would with the original item. A list of modern build features (check the site) complete the very snazzy picture.
And it sounds freakin' amazing.
I love it. Well done, Du.
