What to Plan Before Painting
When you see a painting you like, you don't know what went on behind the scenes before the painter started... Because that process is essentially hidden, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, or it isn't essential to the painting's success.
In this video, I look at a promising photo and discuss its compositional structure and my thinking before beginning. Then I talk about the finished drawing. This kind of planning dramatically increases your success rate with paintings.
