Recording of a July 29, 2021 webinar:

Tools such as Ansible, Terraform and Packer are transforming system provisioning and configuration. Where network and system administrators manually installed and configured infrastructure and software guided by runbooks, now DevOps engineers write code to describe the desired state of the system.

Once configuration is expressed as code, we can track its changes, easily deploy and redeploy in development, test and production environments, and quickly revert to a working configuration in case of issues. The DevOps approach saves time and produces more reliable, predictable results.

In this session, Citrix Director of Developer Evangelism Pat Patterson explored the application of DevOps to Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops (CVAD). Pat covered:
• DevOps essentials for Citrix architects and admins
• Implementing images, infrastructure and configuration as code
• The different settings in which declarative and procedural techniques are applicable
• How the CVAD Service REST API allows use of a wide range of DevOps tools
• Possible future directions for CVAD in relation to DevOps techniques
