Taylor Swift deliberately did not release her latest album titled 1989 on Spotify and other streaming platforms, likely in an effort to drive album sales for the songstress is well on her way to set a new record for first-week sales by a female artist which would require 1989 to sell a bit more than 1.3 million copies in it's first week.

Today, Swift pulled all of her music off of Spotify, likely in an attempt to drive sales of not only this new, potential record breaking release, but Swift's entire back catalog as well. All Taylor Swift's music has been pulled from the streaming service and Spotify, is understandable sad to see her go. While the album, 1989, never made it's way onto Spotify, it's leading single "Shake It Off" which was on the "A Beautiful Life: Song Of The Day" playlist, was available, until today when it was ripped off the streaming service's offerings along with the rest of Swift's catalog. At the time Taylor's music was removed, "Shake It Off" was the most played song on Spotify.

Spotify writes in a blog post this morning, "We hope she’ll change her mind and join us in building a new music economy that works for everyone. We believe fans should be able to listen to music wherever and whenever they want, and that artists have an absolute right to be paid for their work and protected from piracy."

In hopes of winning Swift back, Spotify took to social media using the hashtag #justsayyes and quoting a lyric from Taylor's own hit "Love Story" that reads "We were young when we first saw you but now there’s 40 million who say stay, stay, stay. It’s a love story baby #justsayyes"
