Visual Impairment Awareness
A learning resource created by B.Med.Sci Orthoptic students at the University of Sjheffield, supported by a curriculum development fund grant.
The information for this learning resource was gained by conducting focus group discussions with people attending the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB). The focus groups included discussions with both teenagers and adults with varying levels of visual impairment (also known as partial sightedness).
Group discussions were also conducted with clinical orthoptists from the Sheffield Children’s and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals and charity staff from the SRSB and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to gain insight from their experience.
