Google Introduces Backup and Sync App
Google introduced Backup and Sync on July 12, 2017. This new Windows and Mac app is geared towards making it easy for users to backup and sync their files to Google Drive so they can be accessed anytime from any device.
The Backup and Sync app will replace the Google Drive and Google Photos apps. Additionally, this new app will also enable you backup your photos from USB-connected devices, like cameras, phones, and USB flash drives, as well as SD cards. Once you’ve completed the backup and sync, your files can be accessed in Google Drive from any device including your computer, smartphone or tablet.
By using the “High Quality” option for photos and videos, you can backup your photos and videos with unlimited storage. However, you also have to option to save the original image, though you will only have 15 GB of cloud storage. If you exceed that limit, you can upgrade for a fee.
Based on my experience using the Google Backup & Sync App, I like it overall and will be using it. However, make sure to understand the file backup and sync settings, if not, you may end up with loads of unwanted files on your devices.
