widowmaker is a french woman from blizzard's overwatch. real name amélie lacroix, she was taken captive by a terrorist group known as talon. while kidnapped, she was brainwashed into becoming a sleeper agent. she was rescued by her husband, but the damage was already done. two weeks later, he was found dead in his own bed at the hands of his wife. this event changed her, the thrill of the kill being the most alive she’s ever felt. she returned to talon and underwent more training to become a living weapon. in game, she’s armed with a sniper rifle, a grappling hook, and poisonous mines that explode when passed. she’s been on many missions under talon, including one iconic failure where she couldn’t secure a gauntlet. she’s got many famous quotes to her name, such as “one shot, one kill,” a tattoo on her arm reading “araignée du soir, cauchemar,” and the mercy of the spider she was named after.
cactus is a plant first introduced in the night levels of popcap’s plants vs. zombies. her (yes, her) primary ability is firing sharp projectiles that can pop balloons carrying zombies over other plants, also being able to stretch her body to be incredibly tall to reach their heights. the official in-game almanac says that she wants to be hugged and to hug, and while most people have not given in, she’s been seeing an armadillo and “it really seems to be working out.” she has since appeared in other popcap games, such as being a premium plant in pvz2 as well as a playable character in plants vs. zombies garden warfare, garden warfare 2, and battle for neighborville. in the shooter series, she was converted into a long range sniper. she was also given various plants in her arsenal, such as a wall-nut barrier, a garlic drone to drop corn strikes, and potato land mines which explode on contact. battle for neighborville also gave her the power of flight by spinning the flowers on her head really quickly.
