ROI Worksheet and Inventory List Report
For this lesson, we will be using the Item List: Inventory Items. As you know, the Item List allows us to put in sales prices, cost and customized figures. We’ll be using those figures for the ROI report. Since that is the case, it makes sense to keep the figures up-to-date. The figures themselves are just for reference as far as accounting is concerned. It may sound confusing, but it is really a way of filing the information away until it is needed in transactions. The Balance Sheet and P&L use accounting transactions, not Item List amounts for reports. The ROI report, we are going to build, uses Inventory Items figures exported to an Excel worksheet.

My point: Keep your Inventory Item List figures up-to-date. Make changes in the Excel worksheet cells to correct cost, sales price or fees as needed. No need to rerun the worksheet. You can use the worksheet to experiment with “what ifs” and such.

If you make changes to items and want to use the worksheet to map back to inventory, you can do that too. Review the lessons on inventory mass changes for reminders on how to do that. Now you see why I want you to know how to do things not just what to do.
