This is a step-by-step guide to setup your GitHub account and install GitHub Desktop to host and update your website for SND Challenge.

Go to "github.com" and enter your email address, then click on "sign up for Github." Choose a secure password and select a username. That username will be part of the name and address of your website, so make it a single word, short, and related to your project.

You will receive a verification code in your email to authenticate your user account; just copy and paste it.

Your GitHub account is ready. Now let’s set up the application on your computer to manage your project files.

Go to "desktop.github.com" and download the appropriate application for your computer’s system.

Find the GitHub link provided by SND, and download the base code for your project in a zip file.

https://github.com/mhinfographics/snd...

Open the "GitHub Desktop" application and select "Sign in with GitHub.com." The browser will open so you can enter your username and password.

Return to "GitHub Desktop" and select "Create a New Repository on your Local Drive." In the name field, enter your GitHub username followed of github.io (user.github.io) and select a folder where you will store your project. Do not move that folder after this step. Naming is very important, please make sure that your repo is named as in the example YOUR_USER.github.io

Now move all the files from the SND template you downloaded earlier to the new folder that contains your new project.

Write a comment in the "summary" box; it can be anything like "initial setup." Then click the button below that says "commit."

You’ll see that the "Publish" option is activated; click the button to send all the files to GitHub.

Your project is now online; go to your repository on GitHub.com to activate it. Click on "settings," scroll down to visibility and click "Change visibility," then confirm your choice in the pop-up to make your project public.

Finally, go to the panel on the left and select "Pages." On the right, in the menu "source," select: "Deploy from a branch," then in "Branch," choose: "main," and click "save."

Your project is set up; it may take up to 10 minutes to appear. Once it’s ready, the address will be your-username.github.io, you can view it at the URL of your project.
